Adventure
Adventure is the main campaign. Its early levels are tutorials: level 1 teaches fusing a Solar-shooter and Gatling Pea, level 4 unlocks the Glove, and level 5 prepares you for Super Fusions. Stage 13 gives Fertilizer and stage 31 gives the Mallet. Finishing it unlocks Adventure: Tower Defense, Starbound Adventure and Odyssey: Adventure.
Challenge modes
The Challenge menu sits below the Adventure button. It contains Adventures, Fusion Challenges, Ten-Flag Challenges, Minigames, Garden Defense, Vasebreaker and Adventures: Extra.
- Fusion Challenges unlock Advanced (Super) fusion formulas so you can use them in any mode. Examples are Cherry-bomber, Chewzilla, Charm-shroom, Doomicle-shroom and Infernowood. Beating the Jicamagic Challenge gives you Jicamagicker, which you need for Titan fusions. Recipes are in our PvZ Fusion recipes list.
- Vasebreaker uses the Mallet to break vases. Each vase holds a plant or a zombie, except green leaf vases, which always hold plants.
- Garden Defense skips plant selection. You can only use the plants in the bottom row of your Zen Garden. Plant cost equals the sun used to make the fusion, and recharge ranges from 7.5 to 60 seconds.
Minigames list
The PvZ Fusion Wiki lists these minigames (the list is not complete):
| Minigame | What happens |
|---|---|
| Air Raid | Mostly Zomppelins and Balloon Zombies; bring anti-air plants. |
| Hypno-tism | Use hypno plants to turn zombies against each other. |
| Nut Billiards | Hit zombies with rolling nuts, billiards style. |
| Newspaper War | Newspaper, Scholar and Cherry-shooter Newspaper Zombies. |
| 12 Tile Map | An 18×12 board instead of 9×6. |
| True Art Is an Explosion! | Mostly cherry-type and jester-type Zombotany zombies. |
| Snake | Grow a Sun Chomper snake by eating presents; don’t touch yourself. |
| Whack-a-Hammer | Like Whack-a-Zombie; press 4 for the hammer. |
| 2048 | The 2048 puzzle, while defending. |
| Extraordinary Gravity | Projectiles fall fast; Fume-shroom and Lightning Onion are unaffected. |
| Zombie Run | Fast zombies, set in Fog. |
| Chinese Chess | Chess rules while defending 20 waves. |
Abyss mode
- 30 levels per season, each with its own gimmick, wave count, map and zombie damage reduction.
- Uses its own currency, Chlorophyll. You start with 2,000. You earn more by clearing levels (bonus on first wins) and get 30 per remaining lawn mower.
- Spend Chlorophyll on modifiers, skins and plant upgrades.
- There are 10 map types, including Day and Night with 5 or 6 lanes, Pool, Fog, Roof and Flat Roof variants.
- Zombie damage reduction rises by 1 for every 5 levels cleared.
- Resetting progress clears Chlorophyll, levels, upgrades and modifiers, but keeps skins.
Zen Garden and Garden Defense
The Zen Garden holds plants you collect, usually from Surprise-box drops. Tools include the Golden Watering Can, Fertilizer and Bug Spray, each of which earns money when used. Fully grown plants (growth stage 2 at 100/100) glow and get a 3× buff in Garden Defense.
Odyssey
Odyssey has Survival, Last Stand, Reincarnation, Rush, Evolved, Purgatory, Cursed Purgatory, Investment and Randomized modes. Full details are in our PvZ Fusion Odyssey mode guide.
